Harold Dennis Thornton, 57, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at his home in Fort Worth. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, in Greenwood Memorial Park. Dennis was born Dec. 3, 1952, in Fort Worth and graduated in 1970 from Trimble Technical High School. During the Vietnam era he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After the Army, he worked at General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin), for the Western Oil Company, and as an independent construction contractor and HVAC installer. He enjoyed traveling, having visited Tahiti and Australia among other places, and also lived in Grand Junction, Colo., and Ketchikan, Alaska. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Wayne and Florence Thornton. Survivors: Brother, Richard Thornton and wife, Carol, of Fort Worth; sister, Linda Thornton of Gallup, N.M.; aunt and uncle, Peggy and Joe Frizzell; aunt, Christine Stansberry; and several cousins and nieces and nephews, all of Fort Worth.
