Frances Emeline Thornton died Saturday evening at her home, 609 Sixteenth Ave. East, Eugene, at the age of 74 years. She had been ill only two days. Mrs. Thornton came to Eugene from Roseburg in 1924 with her husband, J.J.Thornton and family. She was born near Topeka, Kansas, July 30 , 1863, and came to Oregon in 1879 with her parents, Elder and Mrs. W.S. Matthews. She married Feb. 1, 1880.
Survivors are her husband, J.J. Thornton; two sons, Will J. Thornton of Concord, Cal., and Clarence E. Thorntonof Creswell, three daughters, Mrs. Riley Boyd of Eugene, Mrs N.G. Koufas of Multnomah, Ore., and Mrs. W. Lawrence Wells of Vancouver, Wash.; 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; three brothers, James Matthews of Tygh Valley, Ore., W.D Matthews of Woodland, Wash., and C. S. Matthews of Tigard.
Funeral services will be held at Roseburg from the Roseburg Chapel Tuesday at 1:30 p. m. with interment in the family plot at Oak Creek.
