Born November 3, 1938, in Salt Lake City to Grant Thornton and Ethel Eyre Thornton. Died February 6, 2014, at home surrounded by her loved ones. Attended local schools, graduating with West High class of 1957. Was employed by Union Pacific Railroad, Utah Air Guard, Lenex Corp., Sperry Unisys, Selfs, Avon, First Security, Wells Fargo Bank. She was an avid Jazz fan. Laurnell met Ronald Goodsell in the 5th grade; they were married in 1957 during her last year of high school. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 3, 1965.
Survived by husband Ron, precious sons Cole (Bernice) and Shawn (Robin), eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one sister Pamala Cowan, and her dogs Hale & Pinky. Preceded in death by parents, brother Clark, two sisters Norma & Pat.
Her life will be celebrated with a viewing on Tuesday, February 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rose Park Stake Center, 1150 W. 800 N. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 12, 12 noon, with a viewing from 10:30 to 11:45 at the Stake Center. Interment at Larkin Sunset Lawn cemetery, 2350 E. 1300 S.
