Charles W. "Chuck" Thornhill (1952-2011)

Charles W. "Chuck" Thornhill, 58, Seymour, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, peacefully, at his residence.

Mr. Thornhill was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on Oct. 30, 1952, a son of Glenna Lucille Edgington Thornhill of Ohio and the late Peyton H. Thornhill III. He graduated from Edgewood High School, Class of 1971, in Trenton, Ohio. On Nov. 11, 1978, he married Linda M. Call Thornhill in New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Chuck moved from Ohio to Indiana in 1994. He had been employed with RR Donnelley for the past 17 years. He was the project manager for the U.S. Census for 2010, which he took great pride in.

Anyone who knew Chuck, knew he was proud to be a buckeye. He was an avid "Ohio State Buckeye Fan." He also liked the Cincinnati Reds and, of course, the Bengals.

His most precious gift was being a faithful husband, father and pop-pop. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Linda; daughter, Jennifer S. (Christopher S.) Spall; mother, Glenna "Lucille"; two sisters, June Ann Collie and Glenna F. (Paul) Hammons; three granddaughters, Payton Toepfert, Jessica Toepfert and Kylene Spall; and his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Peyton H. Thornhill III; sister, Brenda Hammons; grandson, Ronnie J. Toepfert; and niece, Glenna Jane Hammons Cherif.

A funeral service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Voss Chapel, Seymour, with the Rev. Bill Lockman officiating.

Family and friends may call from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Voss Chapel.

Family request donations to Ronald McDonald House of Indianapolis or the Don and Dana Myers Cancer Center.
