Irene Thornhill Stuart, 54, of Lumberton, passed away on April 30 2013, at Duke University Medical Center after an extended illness.

She is survived by her parents, Roger and Betty Thornhill of Fayetteville; her loving husband, Dr. Dennis Stuart; her beautiful children, Aaron, Justin, Lauren, Taylor, all of Lumberton; her sisters, Judith Archer of Brewster, N.Y., Linda Rickman of Las Vegas; a brother, Roger Thornhill, III of Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.; her wonderful brothers and sisters in law; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and of course, her two loving cats!

Your generosity will honor Irene's many years of service and dedication in providing women in Robeson County financial assistance for mammogram screenings for the early detection of breast cancer.

A memorial will be held at Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 5422 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, N.C., 28304. Services entrusted to Cunningham & Sons Mortuary Inc., Fayetteville, N.C.
