Mary Inez (Thomson) Boydstun Rotan
Mary Inez (Thomson) Boydstun, 91, died Saturday September 10, 2011 at the Fisher County Assisted Living Facility. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday September 12, 2011, at the First Baptist Church of Roby with Brother Jerry Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at Hobbs Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born August 2, 1920 in Fisher County, TX, Mary was a daughter of the late Robert Grundy and Lucy (Clegg) Thomson. Mary was a life-long resident of Fisher County and graduated from Hobbs High School. She married Frank Boydstun on December 25, 1945 in Longhorn Valley. Mary retired from the Hobbs School District where she worked in the cafeteria. Mary won numerous ribbons for her baked goods. She was especially known for her dinner rolls and pecan pies. Mary also liked to quilt, crochet and shell pecans for her pies. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and belonged to the First Baptist Church of Roby. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son (Wayne Boydstun), a daughter-in-law, ( Norma Boydstun), one brother, (R.L. Thomson), two sisters, ( Dorothy Head and Laura Elene Goodrum), four brothers-in-law, (Clifton Head, George Goodrum, Jesse Hardin and Jack Rister) and one sister-in-law, (Rheta Thomson).
Mary is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Helen Boydstun of Mesquite; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Velma Thomson of Roby and Perry and Linda Thomson of Rotan; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Delia Hardin of Rotan, Thelma and Frank Burk of Roby and Lillian Rister of Waco; four grandchildren, Carlina Boydstun, Joe Boydstun and his wife Tina, Bruce Boydstun and his wife Cristin and Carla Rankin and her husband Daniel; four great-grandchildren, Spencer Hogan, Cole Hogan, Bailey Hogan and Mason Rankin; numerous nieces and nephews.
