THOMPSON, Alfred Percy Born December 18, 1908, in Middleboro, passed away in Brantford, Ont., November 27, 1988. Husband of Edna Olive Mosher O'Brien; loving father of Betty, Emma (deceased), Connie, Shelley and Sharon; grandfather to some 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was brother to Everett, Eldred and Willis, Vera, Dorothy, Mildred, Elsie and Irma. Alfred's parents were Marvin Truelock Thompson and Nellie Blanche O'Brien. Alfred spent the 30s working in Lumber Camps in Cumberland County. In the 40s he moved to Truro Heights and worked in construction in Debert, in construction for the Pictou Shipyards, and for a construction company in Truro (building new homes.). He and Edna moved to Ontario in late 40s where Alfred set up his own house construction company. In the 60s he and Edna purchased a Recreation Park (Coral Park) and were very busy running this. They sold this in the 70s and Alfred retired from a busy life. He passed on in 1988 after a battle with cancer. He will be well remembered. The family would appreciate donations to Riverside Cemetery. A graveside service for both Alfred and Edna will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Riverside Cemetery, Wallace River. (O'Brien), Edna - Born in Middleboro, on October 10, 1912, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2008, peacefully in her 96th year in St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre, Brantford Ont. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Percy Thompson (deceased 1988); loving mother of Betty, Emma (deceased), Connie, Shelly and Sharon; cherished grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was sister to Andy, Harry, Charlie, Earl, Arthur, Nellie, Sara, Hilda, and Alma. Her parents were Elizabeth Fisher O'Brien and Mansfield (Hatfield) O'Brien of Middleboro. Prior to the Second World War, Edna worked as a cook in lumber camps in Cumberland County. In the 40s (during the Second World War) she ran a boarding house in Truro. In the 50s, Edna was a seamstress at Eaton's in Hamilton, Ont. She also worked for International Harvester in Hamilton and at the Burlington Post Office. In the 60s, Edna and Alfred purchased and operated a recreational park, Coral Park, in Kilbride, Ont. Edna was very involved with the church. She was a Deaconess at Temple Baptist Church in Brantford, for many years. Edna enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, singing, dancing, as well as writing and reciting poetry. She traveled to many places including Israel, Bahamas, United States and across Canada to British Columbia. A Memorial was held in Thorpe Brothers' Funeral Home, Brantford, on April 10, 2008. A graveside service for both Alfred and Edna will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, in Riverside Cemetery, Wallace River.
