Dorothy E. (Baby Doll) Quick, age 92, of Hawthorne, NV, passed away on March 19 at Mt. Grant General Hospital in Hawthorne. Dorothy was born on October 25, 1914, in Bodie, CA, to Joe and Adeline (Harry) Thompson.
Dorothy was a member of the Yerington Paiute Tribe and had been a homemaker her whole life, raising seven children. The last school that she attended was the Stewart Indian School in Carson City, where she completed the tenth grade. Dorothy had also attended numerous Lyon County rural schools, including the rural school at the 9-Mile Ranch in the East Walker River area of Mineral County.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold R. Quick in 1968, son William Quick in 1985, and daughter Charlotte Credle in 1992.
Those surviving Dorothy are Barbara Quick (Melvin Graham), Rita (John) Crist, Howard Quick and Janette Quick, all of Hawthorne, and Shirley (Melvin) Woods of Reno; and two sisters, Thelma Thompson and Estella Thompson of Yerington, NV. In addition, she is survived by 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 17 at Gunter's Funeral Home, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Hawthorne Cemetery following the service.
Arrangement are under the direction of Gunter's Funeral Home, Hawthorne.
