Mrs. Ard, 94, died Oct. 2, 2001, at SMRMC. She was born in Lincoln County on July 16, 1907, to Lush Thompson and Florence Kirkfield Thompson.
She was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her stepmother, Letha Thompson; her husband, Wayne Ard; her son, W. T. Ard; her brothers, Alvin, Crawford, Earnest and Henry Thompson; and her sisters, Lois Smith, Auty Bee Bozwell, and Gladys Jordan.
Survivors are her son, James L. Ard of Jayess; her daughter, Mary Ellen Greer of Jayess; her brother, Mike Thompson of Brookhaven; her sister, Howty King of Brookhaven; and six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
