Lois Patricia Thompson Capua, 87 entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 1, 2014. 'Pat' was the daughter of the late Okey and Inez Thompson and was born in Rossmore, WV on January 30, 1927. She was predeceased by her parents, her spouse of 47 years, John Capua and 7 siblings, Leon Thompson, Joyce Anne Prinsen, Dick Thompson, Polly Nelson, Harry Thompson, Karen Maynard and Neal Thompson. She grew up in Logan County, West Virginia and attended nursing school at St. Mary's Nursing School in Huntington, West Virginia, graduating with an RN degree. The family moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1959 where she continued her career at St. Vincent's Hospital in the Recovery Room and Supervisor of Recovery Room at Riverside Hospital. Before retiring from Riverside, she was the head Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit for many years and was well respected by her peers and the Physicians at the Riverside Clinic. Pat attended many continuing education courses to further her Nursing career. After her retirement, she and dad owned Service Discount Sewing Machine Co. for 18 years until his death in 1995. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church since 1961 and a member of the Ladies Guild, and very involved in the Sewing and Nurses Circle (CCW). She had a great devotion to the Blessed Trinity and Jesus' Mother Mary.
Our mom is survived by her 5 children, Rose O'Brien (Maurie), Mark Capua, Dometria Capua (Traci Jo), John Keith Capua (Vicky) and Susan Jo Pritchett (Gary). She considered her children's spouses as her own children. Mamaw is also survived by her grand children, John Kirk, Erik, Amber, Amy, Chris, Carly, Kelley, Tanner, Danielle and 16 great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Ryker, Jude, Eliza, Esther, Rocco, Augustus, Sullivan, Alethia, Giovanni, Scout, Ramsey, Lucca, Eleanor, Annamarie & Josiah. Mamaw was a wonderful grandmother. Pat's surviving Siblings are MaryLou Castle, Cecilia Nichols and Robert Thompson. We especially keep them in our prayers at this time. It is never easy to lose your siblings. She has many sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins who also mourn her death. Our mom was a resident of All Saints Nursing Home in Jacksonville for a little over 9 years. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the many years of care, kindnesses, and comfort they provided to our mother. Our gratitude also extends to the Priests of Sacred Heart who have for years provided for her Spiritual needs. We can all be comforted by the knowledge that Lois Patricia Thompson Capua is in the Arms of a Gracious and Merciful God.
