Patricia Ann Briggs (Thompson) was born on August 8, 1948 to Billy F. & Geraldine Thompson and passed away on January 25, 2015. Patricia is preceded in death by her son Robert E. Briggs Jr., parents, brother, Billy G. Thompson, niece Lisa McGee and nephews Billy E Thompson and Brian Thompson. Patricia was married on December 18, 1965 and is survived by husband of 49 years, Robert E. Briggs Sr.; daughter Alisha Briggs Hardman; grandchildren: Nicole Hardman, Sean Hardman & Dakota Guevara; great-grandchildren, Eli Hardman & Kaylee Hardman; sisters, Linda Thompson and Nina Thompson; niece, Cathy Wilmoth (Bryan) and children Emily & Anna; nephews, Kenneth Thompson, Kevin McGee (Liz) and children Grace & Lauren, Brandon Thompson and many other family members and friends. Patricia "Moms" lived her life for her family first and foremost. They now have a void in their lives that cannot be replaced. She was the ROCK of the family! Patricia had a true love for the Insurance Industry having devoted the last 40 years to a distinguished career in commercial insurance with international brokers and in corporate risk management. During the last 15 years, she was employed by Trinity Industries, where she held positions of increasing responsibility, including her last position as Corporate Insurance Manager with responsibilities for managing the company's insurance programs on a global basis. Patricia was recognized as an expert by her peers and the Insurance Industry in the areas of Marine, Transportation, Rail, Construction, Leasing and Merger and Acquisition risks. She was also an active participant in the Risk and Insurance Management Society and held multiple professional designations. She was a past president of the Dallas Association of Women (DAIW). She will be very missed by her colleagues at Trinity and business associates across the Insurance Industry. "Ms. Pat", as she was known to many who worked with her, was ever so patient with her associates across Trinity when having to explain why the work of risk management was so important to the company's success. She garnered the respect of her peers throughout the industry over the lifetime of her career, and was never daunted by challenges. She could slog through the mud at a flooded plant following a hurricane or flood, walk through a newly acquired facility anywhere in the country with a sharp eye for what needed to be addressed, or give a major presentation to a group of insurance professionals without losing her smile or the twinkle in her eye. Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Grove Hill Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Middlebrooks officiating. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
