Archie Harold Thompson was born in San Pablo, California, May 15, 1915, where he lived with his parents until he reached the age of nine years old.
In 1924, he with his brother, Robert, came to make their home with their uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs G.W. Barker, who, at the time, were living one mile north of Gas City. This has been their home since then and both boys attended Gas school. Archie was in the eighth grade of school and would have graduated this term. He was a dutiful, studious pupil, always cheerful and ready to aid in any way possible around the building.
On Sunday, January 4, he became ill and was examined by a physician who pronounced the trouble blood poison, which had developed from a burn received some time previously. All was done that medical skill could provide but to no avail, and he departed the life on Saturday, January 10, 1930, at 3:15 o'clock pm.
He leaves to mourn his death, his mother, Mrs Clara Thompson; his brother, W.J; four sisters, Lola V Clara D, Myrtle E, and Katherine L, all of San Pablo, California and Robert B, a brother, of Gas, Kansas; his uncle and aunt , Mr and Mrs G.W. Barker, with whom he has made his home for a number of years, besides many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at the Gas City Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by the pastor, the Rev J.C. Wilson. Burial was made in the Gas City cemetery.
