Rosemary L. (nee Thompson) Hitchens Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Rosemary L. (nee Thompson) Hitchens, 76, of Morton, PA, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Born to the late James and Rose (Crowley) Thompson, she was raised in Garden City, PA. Mrs. Hitchens was a 1953 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Moylan, PA. She was employed at Ship & Shore prior to becoming a homemaker and mother. After her children were grown, Rosemary went back to work and later retired from the Philadelphia Archdiocese working in their Cardinal Kroll Center where she cared for adults with mental disabilities. Mrs. Hitchens was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church. Rosemary was a loving mother who dedicated her life to raising her eight children. She cherished her 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. She was proud of her family and delighted in teaching them perseverance and unselfishness. Rosemary enjoyed her yearly visits to Delaware beaches with her family where she was surrounded by all of their love. She will be greatly missed. Mother of the late Steven and Daniel Hitchens; mother-in-law of the late Kristine Hitchens and James DeHart; sister of the late Doris McCann Survivors: Her children Dallas (Eileen) Hitchens of DE, Denise DeHart of Holmes, PA, David (Susan) Hitchens of Morton, PA, Lisa (Geoff) Young of Springfield, PA, Patrick (Manette) Hitchens of Middletown, DE and Michelle (Jim) Childs of Odessa, DE; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; niece Kristy Thompson; nephew Jerry McCann. Funeral Mass Friday 11:30 AM at The Church of St Francis deSales, 35 New Road, Lenni, PA. Visitation Friday 9:30 to 11 AM at Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Ltd., Middletown (Rte#352) & Knowlton Roads, Middletown Twp., Media, PA. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery, Aston, PA.
