Albert Dean Thompson, 84, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011, at his daughter's home in Ardmore, Okla.
Dean was born on May 30, 1926, in Gallatin, Mo., to Elihu and Frankie (Vaughn) Thompson. Dean served in the United States navy, he was a dairy farmer, Auctioneer Colonel, car salesman and had also worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation.
He was also a Professor of Auctioneering at the Mason City School of Auctioneering, Mason City, Iowa.
He was a member of Wyatt Park Christian Church and volunteered at their food kitchen, several American Legions, Nevada, Iowa Lions Club, and a member of the Westchester Village People.
He married Helen R. Cunningham on May 23, 1948, in Gallatin. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2004. He was also preceded by seven brothers and sisters and son-in-law, Eldon Howell.
Survivors include his children, Sharon Howell, Waukee, Iowa, Gary (Audrey) Thompson, Round Rock, Texas, Steve (Debi) Thompson, Spring, Texas and Ruby (Ashley) Bickmore, Ardmore; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Charles (Junior) Thompson, and sister, Dorothy (Thompson) Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Wyatt Park Christian Church, St. Joseph, Mo.
Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.
Arrangements: Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph, Mo.
