Violet Mae Thompson Haynes, 74 years, 11 months and 28 days of age, departed this life to be with her Lord on Friday, May 20th, 2016.

Violet was born in Jugornot, Kentucky on Thursday, May 22nd, 1941, daughter of the late Steve and Desdia Elizabeth Hair Thompson.

Violet was survived by three daughters, Kathy (and her husband, Mark) Ellis, Vicki (and her husband, Kevin) Cordell, and Tami Diamond; five grandchildren, Samuel Eastham, Heather (and her husband, Chad) Stevens, Douglas Diamond, Mark Ellis, Jr., and Chris Cordell; three brothers, Roy Thompson, Orville Thompson, and Wayne Thompson; two sisters, Beulah Casada and Joanne Thompson; eight great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve Thompson, who departed this life in 1948 and Desdia Elizabeth Thompson, who departed this life on June 11th, 1989; her loving husband, Willie “Bill” Haynes, who departed this life on April 9th, 1987; one son, Johnny Haynes; one brother, Harmon Thompson; and four sisters, Shirley Bray, Viola Martin, Bonnie Reed, and Letha Lowery.

Violet attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church for many years and taught the Tiny Tots Sunday School Class for close to 20 years. She later became a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church No#1 where she remained a member until the time of her passing. Violet was a strong and independent lady who loved life, and who enjoyed spending time with her family.

Visitations were held after 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25th, 2016 at the Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25th, 2016 in the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Don Kennedy officiating.

Burial followed in the Haynes Cemetery.

I have held our Father's face and I've touched my Savior's hand. All of Heaven's angels rejoiced as I entered the promised land. Beyond the gates of pearl I've walked on the golden streets.

I've touched the walls of jasper and dipped my foot in the crystal sea. The beauty is beyond words and nothing could compare, I've even seen our Lords mansion and someday I'll meet you there. Let Jesus be your guide because "His Word" will show you the way. So please don't cry because we will meet again someday.
