Randall Thompson, who has been in bad health for the past few years, suffering from lung trouble, passed away Sunday nigh at ten o'clock,, at the home of his sister, Mrs S. R. Harris, in East Calico Rock.
Deceased was about 34 years of age. He was born in this county, near Iuka and after attending the district schools, he entered the Calico Rock High School, which he attended for several years. He then entered upon a business career, specializing in shorthand and stenography and his aptitude in this work was such that he later became an instructor in a business college at Harrison, also holing important positions in Kansas City and elsewhere. He (next line is unreadable) business man and when he was entering upon a promising career he contracted the dreaded disease, tuberculosis. He was forced to abandon his work, so returned here about five years ago in hope of regaining his health, though a cure was never affected. He suffered a relapse two or three weeks ago and but little hope was entertained for his recovery. He mad a det4ermined fight to regain his health displaying a marked degree of patience and fortitude though out his sufferings. Mr Thompson relied upon his own initiative and efforts to make a mark in the world and that his hopes should be blasted by affliction just as hey were blooming into realization adds deepest sorrow to the occasion of death.
Deceased has lived a devout Christian since his early youth, being a member of the Christian Church. His life is an inspiration to the countless number who knew and love him.
Besides two small sons of Kansas City, four brothers and three sisters survive as follows: Will Thompson, of Wheeling, Hix Thompson of Vinita, Okla., Noah Thompson of Calico Rock; Mrs Wm Bunch of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs S. R. Harris and Mrs R. E. Jennings of Calico Rock. (names only 3 brothers).
Burial took place at Spring Creek Cemetery Monday afternoon, funeral services being conducted by Eld. Oscar L. Hays.
