DOROTHY M. DRAKE---Born on the 7th of February, 1914, she was the third of six children to be born to George & Cora Thomason, Masters, Mo. Gilbert Thomason, Joetta Teague, and Cordy Taylor pre-deceased their sister, Dorothy. She is survived by two sisters, Gladys Gannaway, Visalia, Calif., and Geneva Adams, Phoenix, Ariz. Dorothy was raised in a Christian home & became a charter member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church when she was saved & baptized into the church as a 12 year-old girl. It was at church that she met her future husband, Charles Drake. After a period of courtship, they were married on the Fourth of July, 1934, & would enjoy a wonderful marriage bearing two sons, Bobby G. Drake and the late Ronald Drake. Though Charles passed away over 14 years ago, Dorothy remained active in church & on the farm until she had a minor stroke on the 6th of December. It was the aftermath of this & subsequent strokes that led to her death Wednesday morning, the 14th of January in Parkview Medical Facility, Bolivar, at the age of 83 years, 11 months, & seven days. Dorothy is survived by her eldest son, Bobby G. Drake & his wife Amy; two step-grandchildren, Holly & Justin Colvin, all of Stockton; grandson, Nathan G. Drake, of the home, where he was raised & loved as her own; her four remaining grandchildren, Bradley G. Drake, Louisburg, Kan., Brent Drake, Springfield, and Delissa & Mary Dawn Drake, both of Fair Play. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Micah & Tressie Drake, Louisburg, Kan.,& Zachary Drake, Springfield; as well as six nieces & four nephews. Dorothy M. Drake was a hard working Christian woman who loved to work in nature & take care of loved ones in their time of need. It was then, in her time of need, that she looked most forward to going to her Heavenly home. Funeral services are in Pitts Chapel, Bolivar, at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 17, followed by graveside services in Shady Grove Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Charles.
