Served as a Delegate to the Arkansas Secession Convention in 1861, Delegate from Arkansas to the Confederate Provisional Congress from 1861 to 1862, Member of the Arkansas State Legislature in 1866 and 1893, Delegate to Arkansas State Constitutional Convention in 1874, Candidate for United States Representatives from Arkansas in 1874, Member of the Arkansas State Senate in 1880, and State Court Judge from 1890 to 1893.
