Frances Louisa Bennett of La Junta Gardens died suddenly while in route to Denver. Two funerals were scheduled for her, one in Elkhart, Kansas and one in La Junta, Colorado. The funeral in Elkhart was held Friday, September 10 at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of God and in La Junta at the Church of God on Saturday, September 11. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in LaJunta.
Mrs. Bennett was born to William and Delilah Sharp Thomas. She was married to Earl R. Bennett at Silver Cliff on October 20,1935. The couple lived at Elkhart Kansas until February 1956 when they moved to La Junta. Bennett owns and operates Bennett Farm Sales. She was a member of the Church of God.
Besides her husband Earl of the home, she is survived by three sons: Mervil D. of the home; Allen J. of LaJunta, Alfred R. of Anderson Indiana; three brothers, Joseph W. Thomas of Anita New York; David A Thomas of Denver Colorado, Lloyd W Thomas, of Tulare California; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Hanley of Gallup New Mexico and Mrs. Martha Chestnut of Elkhart Kansas; five grandchildren. One son Larry Eugene died in infancy.
Arrangements were by Peacock – Green Memorial Chapel.
