Lora Maxine Horton, 92, was born in Center, Ark. Nov. 27, 1921 to Luke and Lottie Mae Thomas. She had a sister, Melna Edelen. All have preceded her in death.

She married Lowell B. Horton Dec. 31, 1938 and they were married 68 years when Lowell passed away in 2007. They moved to Tonto Basin after Lowell retired in 1979 where she became known for her delicious buttermilk biscuits and gravy. Together they produced nine children, 7 boys and 2 girls. Sons: Dale (Pat), Bobby (Melinda), Roy (Donna), Russell (Jan), Donald, Frank (Jan), Randy (Tommie), and daughters: Linda Barry Boatman (Riley) and Karen Sevilla (Ted). She also left behind 22 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home and the memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 21 at the same location.

Burial immediately following at the Tonto Basin Cemetery with an open house at the Tonto Basin Chamber of Commerce.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center, 9808 N. 95th St., Scottsdale, AZ 85258.
