Violet "Vi" S. Ballantyne Attkisson, 101, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013. She was surrounded by her "adopted" family, Larry and Debi Pate and Denise Holmes, whom she had known since she moved to Sierra Vista in 1956.
Violet was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on July 26, 1912, to George and Magdalena (Tabois) Thomas. As a child she was raised in Panama.
She met and married Floyd "Bill" Ballantyne in Panama in 1942 and they moved to Iowa. Bill passed away in 1964.
She married James Attkisson in 1981 and was widowed again in 1987.
