Bessie Thomas Nackard, 88, died June 21, 2001, at Flagstaff Medical Center.
Born Nov 16, 1912, in Pinedale, Mrs. Nackard spent much of her early years in Pinedale helping on the family farm and ranch.
She graduated from Snowflake High School in 1930. She moved to Flagstaff to work and attend school and met her husband Phillip Nackard. The couple married on June 29, 1935.
The couple owned several businesses in Flagstaff and Mrs. Nackard was known for her generosity in helping with many missions as well as other finances. During her early years, Mrs. Nackard was invited to sing at the dedication of the Arizona Temple.
Mrs. Nackard was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Flagstaff First Ward Chapel, 625 E. Cherry Ave.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66, and also from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, prior to the funeral service.
Arrangements are being handled by Norvel Owens Mortuary.
