WEST POINT – Hazel Armstrong Thomas, 90, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. She was born April 9, 1915, in Attala County to the late Clara Mae Haynes and Emmett Armstrong. She came to Clay County in 1927. She was a nurse at Ivy Memorial Hospital for 15 years. Later she served as hostess for Calvert Funeral Home for a number of years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She married Leo Covel Thomas Sr. on April 4, 1935, in Pheba; he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1963.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in West Point.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elvey Armstrong, Festus Armstrong and Walton Armstrong.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
