Masie Gilmore, daughter of Thomas Ray and Lottie Mae (Hall) Thomas, was born November 28, 1921 in Brown County, Illinois. She passed away December 14, 2009 at Heartland of Willow Lane, Nursing Home in Butler, Missouri at 88 years of age. Masie and her family moved to the Appleton City, Missouri area in January of 1925 when she was three years old. She was united in marriage to Arthur Lewis Gilmore on June 22, 1942 and to this union two sons were born. Masie has lived in the Appleton City, Butler, Missouri area since that time except for two years when she moved with her husband, Arthur, while he was in the U.S. Army stationed in Texas. During her lifetime, in addition to being a good wife and mother, Masie had worked at Ellett Memorial Hospital and also Appleton City Manor Nursing Home as a housekeeper and cook. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Appleton City for many years. Preceding Masie in death were her parents, her husband, one son Stanley Gilmore and one grandson Darren Gilmore. Survivors include her son Walter Gilmore and wife Martina of Butler, Missouri; one granddaughter Elizabeth Cox and husband Jeff of Butler, and one grandson Curtis Gilmore also of Butler; three great-grandsons, Cordell Cox, Jake Cox and Burke Cox; one sister Mary Margaret Raybourn of Butler; and a host of nieces and nephews.
