(Mother) Susie Mae Harris was born December 13. 2006 to Oscar and Susie Davis Thomas in Brookfoot , MS She came to Toledo in 1948 and joined Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her passing. Mother Harris loved her church and missionary work. She was a member and served as president of the Missionary Society and Mother's Board and was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a dedicated member of Rachel Chapter #14, O.E.S., and past member of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club. She loved to give, share and support all that served the community. She involved herself in those activities and organization that where in the business of Christian works. She was a Christian that did not talk her belief but truly lived it.
Susie passed away quietly November 3, 2006 at Fairview Manor Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by husband George A. Harris, son Willie L. Harris, her parents Oscar and Susie Davis Thomas, two brothers Robert and James Thomas. She is survived by daughter Margaret J. Williard, 3 grandchildren, Ilderane (Lee) Milliner, Tyjuana (Orson) Burton , and Shawn (Jim) Hunt, 6 great grandchildren, god daughter Deborah (Floyd) Rockett, special friend Susie Mae Crite and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation Friday Nov. 10, 2006 from 4-7:00p.m. At the Dale-Riggs Funeral Home Chapel, with Wake service Nov 11, 2006 at 10:00a.m. Followed by Funeral service at 11:00a.m. At the Union Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Jesse Spears officiant. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.
