Blanche Thomas, 84, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2006, in her residence. A native of Amonate, WV, she graduated from Bluefield State College and moved to Toledo in 1954. She began her nursing career at The Toledo Hospital then at Flower Hospital. Other employers were Pinkerton Tobacco Company and General Motors-Chevrolet before retiring in 1989. She was a member of Family M.B.C. under the auspices of Rev. Floyd Rose. She was preceded in death by husbands, Harvey Nevels and Clarence Thomas; her father, Samuel Berger; two brothers; four sisters. Blanche is survived by her mother, Bessie Berger, who is 104 years of age; daughters, Mae F. Gatica, Starrie L. Nevels and Brenda (Ben) Neal; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, and other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Barry Deran, Rev. Willie Brown, Rev. Floyd Rose, Rev. Phillip Battle of the Family Church, Betty Wiggins, all the neighbors, friends, and special friends, Deloris Price and Barbara Allen. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Tuesday Dale-Riggs Funeral Home Chapel. Wake 10 a.m. Wednesday with funeral to follow at 11 a.m. at Family Church. Rev. Phillip Battle, Officiant. Interment Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
