Fredericka was born in Pommern, Germany.

She married twice, first to a Mr. Huebner in Germany. They had a son August Huebner, born 1849 in Germany, who moved to Minnesota. She then married Carl Ludwig Thom in Germany in the fall of 1852. They had three daughters. One died in Germany at the age of 25. The other two, Henrietta and Auguste Emilia, moved to America with Carl and Fredericka around 1878 - 1880, settling in Illinois. Fredericka, Carl, and Henrietta settled in the Piper City, Ford County, Illinois area. Auguste Emilia settled in Chicago.

Fredericka died in 1892 in Piper City, Ford, Illinois.
