MOLINE - Mr. Alex M. Thierry, 49, of 426 42nd St., Moline, formerly of Galesburg, died at 9:52 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2009, in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

He was born May 17, 1959, in Galesburg, the son of Willard and Sandra Thomas Thierry.

He is survived by his father, Willard Thierry of Galesburg; his mother, Sandra Sands of Miami, Fla.; three brothers, Kyle Thierry of Galesburg, and Terrance 'Terry' Young and Damian Sands, both of Miami, Fla.; one sister, Kimberly A. Thierry of Galesburg; seven nieces, Jennifer Howe, Cara Young, Rachael Gill, Erin Wilson, Tara Wilder, Kristi, Wilder and Tiffany Wolfe; and six nephews, Brian Davis, Michael Wilder, Kyle Thierry, Andrew Thierry, Nate Thierry and Malik Wilder. He is preceded in death by his grandparents.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 16 years and U.S. Army for 4 years. He worked as a medical technician for the V.A. Hospital for several years in Iowa City. He most recently was working for the V.A. Clinic in Bettendorf, Iowa. He was raised in Burlington Iowa and Galesburg before entering the service. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1978. He was baptized in Union Baptist Church in Burlington, Iowa. He enjoyed working on cars. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.

Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Tyson T. Parks III and Rev. Lewis Woods will officiate. Visitation will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Cremation will follow the service with burial in East Linwood Cemetery at a later date. Military honors will be presented by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285 and the Patriot Guards.

Memorials may be made to the OSF St. Francis Neurology Department.
