Suzette Thierry Vickery, Age 56, born August 10, 1957, went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 5, 2013 surrounded by her loved ones and escorted to Heaven by Jesus Christ. We celebrate and are forever changed by the life of Suzette. She was a faithful servant, beautiful wife, loving mother, adored Nana, and kindhearted friend. In Suzette's victory over years of health challenges, her faith and love of Jesus was a shining light to all who encountered her. The size of her heart belied its fragile condition, and even as a patient she found opportunities to minister to others. Her bright spirit, optimistic attitude, and sincere love for those around her changed countless lives. After the Tuscaloosa tornado, she rallied the troops and delivered hand-packed bags of food and personal care items to hundreds of survivors. Many times a homeless person would find a tasty meal in his hands and a prayer in his heart after she visited. She delighted in being the solution to any problem that others would pass by. Those who love her rejoice in her victory and have the sweet assurance that she is with the Lord she loved so much. Suzette is survived by her loving husband, Steve, children Kristi (Greg) Mais, Joey (Amy) Vickery, Jessica (Arlen) Parker, Mathew (Shanon) Vickery, and Abbey (Jake) Fordham, and was a beloved grandmother to grandchildren Shelby, Benton and Annabelle. Suzette's mother, Nina Thierry, continues to keep Suzette as her "heart". She was preceded in death by her father, E. J. Thierry and her mother- and father-in-law, Madge and Richard Vickery. Others left to lovingly remember Suzette are her siblings Nina (Ken) Jones, Carolyn (Tony) McLaughlin, Alma (Chuck) Mueller, Ed (Brenda) Thierry, and Mike (Ann) Thierry. Her family by marriage are Ann (Twiggs) Randall, Linda (Wayne) McCaleb, Jane Lightning, and Cindy (Glenn) Vickery. A celebration service of Suzette's life will be held at Government Street Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 10, at 6:30 pm. Family will greet friends after the service to share wonderful memories and stories of Suzette. The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses, aides and personnel at UAB Hospital for their years of personal, loving and relentless care for Suzette and her family. Please direct any memorials to Government Street Baptist Church, 3401 Government Boulevard, Mobile, AL 36693. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
