Bessie Thayer, 89, of Superior died Monday in her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Church of Christ in Nelson with David Reppart officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery near Ruskin.

Mrs. Thayer was born on May 16, 1897, on a farm near Oak. She married Arthur Thayer on December 24, 1917.

She was a 77-year member of the Church of Christ, American Legion Auxiliary, Brodstone Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a Red Cross Grey Lady.

Survivors are one son, Raymond of Stromsburg; one sister, Mrs. Arthur (Bertha) Christensen of Lubbock, Texas; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior is in charge of arrangements.

Bessie Viola McBain Thayer, daughter of Frank and Della
McBain, was born May 16,1897, near Oak. She died at her home in Superior March 30.

She was baptized at the age of 13 years.

Dec. 24, 1917, she was united in marriage to Arthur Thayer at Nelson. Three children were born to this union. Her husband died Sept. 13,1951. Two children also preceded her in death. One died in infancy and one son, Donald, lost his life in defense of his country in world War II. on
Jan. 13, 1945.

The last 61 years of her life she lived in the Superior

She served as rehabilitation chairman for the
American Legion Auxiliary for 12 years, was president in 1958-59 and was historian for two years. Mrs. Thayer was a gray Lady for the Red Cross for 20 years. She worked with the Brodstone Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was its secretary for many years.

Surviving are her son, Raymond, Stromsburg; three
granddaughters, Mrs. Arthur Williams (Jacqueline) of
Abilene, Texas, JoLee Thayer of Oakdale, N.Y., and Mrs.
Gary Vawter (Re Jean) of Garland, Texas; five
great-grandsons, Brock, Brent and Brad Vawter and Dustin and
Kenyon Williams; one sister, Mrs. A.C. Christensen (Bertha)
of Lubbock, Texas; and many other relatives.

The funeral was Thursday, April 2, at 10:30 a.m., from the
Church of Christ, Nelson, with David Reppart officiating.

Burial was in the Spring Creek Cemetery near Ruskin.

The Megrue-Price Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
