Mary Janette Thayer, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Thayer of Nora, was born November 12, 1887, and passed away at Park Avenue hospital, Denver, Colorado, following an operation for appendicitis, March 29, 1925, at the age of 38 years, 4 months, and 18 days.
When about sixteen years old she became obedient to her Lord and was baptized by V.E. Shirley who was at that time minister of the Christian church at Nelson, and she continued faithful to the end. February 17, 1915, she was united in marriage to Ernest A. Jones at Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Deceased is survived by her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Thayer, three sisters, Dura and Edith Williams, and Banche Thayer; three brothers, George, Arthur and Frank, all of whom were present at the funeral services, which were held at the Nora Christian church Friday at two-thirty, conducted by Rev. F.E. Day of Hebron. Burial was made in the Nora cemetery.
Relatives from a distance here for the funeral, were: Mrs. Laura Jones, Will and Ermal Jones, all of Ashland, Nebr.; Nettie Ramage, a sister of Mr. Thayer, from Roseville, Ills.; and Bion Thayer of Omaha.
The family have the sympathy of the community in their hour of sorrow.
