Helen Mae Crook, daughter of George Darwin and Cora Cubbon Thayer, was born March, 1914, on a farm near Nora, Nebraska. She departed this life March 18, 1979, at the Clarkson Memorial Hospital in Omaha.
June 16, 1933, Helen was united in marriage to Glen Crook. To this union three children were born. The couple lived in Superior for the last 34 years. Helen was employed at Chard Drug Store for many years and for the past eight and one-half years she worked at the Nuckolls County Hospital as a nurse's aide.
Helen was a member of the Superior Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, both her parents and two sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Gary of East Point, Georgia, and John Omaha; one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Sharon) Schmaltz of Denver, Colorado; three brothers, Lynn Thayer of Nora, Ralph Thayer of Guide Rock, and Dr. Jon Dale Thayer of Belleville; and six grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, March 21, at 11 a.m. at the Megrue-Price Chapel in Superior. The Rev. Sherman Sack officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Superior.
