GENEVIEVE LILA BOND

Genevieve Lila "Gen" Bond, 77, Onawa, Iowa, died Monday, May 4, 1987, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City after a sudden illness.

She was born February 13, 1910, in Monona County, Iowa, to Charles Wesley and Anna Louise (Christensen) Thayer. On January 15, 1933, she married Clarence Bond at Onawa. The couple lived near Arcola for two years, in rural Whiting for six years, and north of Turin for six years. They farmed at Castana for 30 years before moving to Onawa in December 1980.

She was affiliated with Castana Community Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of Elise Rebekah Lodge No. 222, Cottonwood Creek Club and the Busy Bees Birthday Club.

Survivors include: her husband, Clarence; one son, Darrell of San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Bud (Doris) Pixler of Branson; two brothers, William C. of Sheldon and Glen of Omaha; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents: one son, Delbert E.; and three brothers, Roscoe in infancy, Lewis and Norse.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 1987, in Castana Community Church at Castana with Rev. Richard Hempenius officiating. The organist, Mrs. Paul Petersen, Jr., accompanied Mrs. Harvey Hanson and Mrs. Brady Hanson who sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Amazing Grace".

Bearers were Steve Longlee, Dale Longlee, Gerald Davis, Barry Erickson, Roger Hall and Otis Denney.

Interment was in Jordan Township Cemetery at Soldier with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
