David Lee Thayer

David L. Thayer entered into eternal rest on Nov. 6, at his home following a brief illness. He was born July 25, 1947 in Lansing, Mich., one of five children, to Willard and Ruth Thayer. Following a tour of duty in Vietnam, he went to work for General Motors where he stayed until his retirement. He move to Pansy, in 1999 to be near his sister, Pat Hart. Subsequently, Pat introduced David to Louise Irvin and he later moved to Eufaula. While in Eufaula, he attended Calvary Baptist Church, followed diligently the Eufaula Tigers' football and baseball teams and always helped his neighbors. He leaves behind his partner, Louise Irvin, Eufaula; his mother, Ruth Thayer, Lansing, Mich.; two sons, Tim (Carie) Thayer, Savannah, Ga. and Travis (Casey) Thayer, Lansing, Mich.; three daughters, Melissa Thayer, Savannah, Ga., Teresa Thayer, Lansing, Mich. and Jessica Thayer Sawyers, Holt, Mich.; two brothers, Ronnie (Becky) Thayer, and Roger Thayer, both of Lansing, Mich.; two sister, Pat Thayer Hart, Richardton, N.D., and Sarah Thayer, Lansing, Mich. and several grandchildren and nieces and nephews. His memorial service was held Nov. 10, at Calvary Baptist Church, Eufaula. A military service is to be held later in Lansing. Funeral details were handled by Talladega Funeral Home.
