Patricia L. Thayer
Patricia L. Thayer, 79, of Sioux City died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Rev. Timothy Hogan officiating. After the services, the body will be cremated and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with family present 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with a rosary by the Catholic Daughters of America at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m, at Larkin Northside Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thayer was born March 9, 1922, in Goderich, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Edward F. and Isabella (Carney) Lynn. As a child she moved to Danbury, Iowa, where she was raised by Kate and Jim Navin. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Danbury. She moved to Sioux City where she
attended N.B.T. Business School. She married Joseph Thayer in 1944 in Omaha. He died Jan. 6, 1969, in Sioux City. She worked with her husband at Thayer Hardware Store until his death. She then worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City and as bookkeeper for Toy National Bank.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City and the Catholic Daughters of America-Ave Maria Court. She was a former member of the Sioux City Eagles Club where she enjoyed dancing. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and a very giving person.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Robert and Joedene Thayer of Heidelberg, Germany; a daughter, Ann O'Neill of South Sioux City; three grandchildren, Amy Crane, Katie Hughes and Alanna Thayer; and three great-grandchildren, Colin, Avery and Carter Crayne.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and her adoptive parents.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Hughes, Robert Crayne, Elliott Crane and B.J. Thayer.
