From the Flint Daily Journal dtd Tues. 14 March 1911 pg. 10 Col. 4: Henry B. THAYER Died While Sitting in Chair Sunday Afternoon at 4 o'clock. Mr. THAYER had been subject to attacks of heart failure for a number of years but the immediate cause of death was pneumonia. Mr. THAYER was born in New York State, 87 years age April 15. He came to Michigan with his wife more than 50 years ago settling near Caro an Watrousville. He is survived by seven children: Charles H. THAYER of Washington; Daniel THAYER of Calif; Luman THAYER of Boyne City, MI: Leman THAYER of Vanderbilt: Edward THAYER of Flint; Mrs. Elizabeth MONTAGUE of Caro; and Mrs. Charles WOOLSON of Clio. His wife died two years ago. Mr. THAYER was a member of the 23rd Michigan Infantry and served three yrs. in the Civil War. He re enlisted as a Corporal and during the last two years of service was orderly for Colonel WHEELER. He was present in many battles among them being that of Cold Harbor. He was a member of the G.A.R. and was an Orangeman. The funeral Service will be held at the home of Daniel WOOLSON and the remains will be taken to Caro for burial.
