Iva Tharp "Ma" Sibley, 92, died June 30, 2004, at her home in West Point.
Mrs. Sibley was a longtime resident of Webster County until she moved to West Point in 1992. She was retired from the dietary department of Webster General Hospital and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Point.
Mrs. Sibley was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley L. Sibley; her parents, Robert and Doshie Tharp; a daughter, Adney Gatlin and her husband, Thurman; a son, Walter Sibley and his wife, Elizabeth; a son-in-law, Charles Putnam; a grandson, David Nail; and her sister, Robbie Warner.
Survivors include her daughter, Mable Putnam of Eupora; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laveda and James Camp and Nelda and Gerald Oswalt, all of West Point; two sisters, Claudie Overton of Madison and Pearl Heard of Milton, Fla.; one brother-in-law and his wife, Ray and Jerri Sibley of Baton Rouge, La.; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was July 21 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. James Towery and the Rev. Robert Keltner officiated.
Pallbearers were Chris Pollan, Danny Merchant, Chuck Putnam, Marc McClure, Shayne McClure and Byron Smith.
