Mr. Glen Allen Tharp, 63, formerly of Winona, passed away Monday, December 8, 2008, at his residence in Greenwood, MS from heart complications.

Mr. Tharp was born in Winona, MS on April 27, 1945, to Sybil Sellers Tharp, and the late W.M. Tharp. He was a 1963 graduate of Winona High School, where he was a 4 sport letterman, and received his degree from Holmes Junior College in 1965. While at Holmes, he was a star athlete on the football and baseball teams. He also attended Delta State University. He was a member of the Mississippi National Guard for 7 years and achieved the rank of sergeant.

He retired from a 25 year career with White Rose Linen where he served as a sales representative. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast, and an avid Ole Miss fan. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Winona.

He was preceded in death by his father, W.M. Tharp.

Survivors include his mother, Sybil Sellers Tharp of Winona; his brother, Jerry Tharp of Winona; his daughters, Jodie Tharp of Greenwood; Jennifer Tharp Eastland and her husband, Hiram, of Greenwood; his wife of 28 years, Nancy Senner Tharp of Greenwood; a stepdaughter, Beth Edwards Tackett and her husband, Randy, of Greenwood; a stepson, Andrew H. Edwards III, and his wife, Rachelle, of Banner; six grandchildren; 2 nephews; a niece and many loving friends.

Services were held on December 10, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Lee Funeral Home in Winona. Burial followed in Milligan Springs Cemetery in Montgomery County.

The Reverend Johnny Walker officiated the services.

Pallbearers were Thomas Caffey, Hiram Eastland III, Andrew Edwards III, Danny Fielder, Randy Tackett, Jay Tharp, Stephen Tharp and Travis Tharp, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers were members of Mr. Tharp's high school football team from Winona High School.
