M. Evelyn Scales, age 84, Bruce Township, Michigan passed away Monday afternoon, February 20, 2012.
Evelyn was born October 25, 1927, to George and Ida Irene (Haynes) TenEyck in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She attended Bowen High School in Chicago, Illinois and Married Herbert Scales Sr. on October 15, 1946 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Evelyn worked at Algoma Steel in Chicago as a cashier and base exchange in Kincheloe as office reports clerk. She also waitressed at Cozy Corners restaurant. After moving to Lachine, Michigan, she kept busy with crafts and painting and owned Evy's Creations (She was well known for her sitting mouse). She loved to crochet Afghan's and made one for all her children and grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her husband: Herbert Scales, Sr.; her children: Herbert (Loretta) Scales, Jr. of Barbeau, MI, Roger (Nancy) Scales of Keldon, MI, Dennis (Shirley) Scales of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Daryl (Linda) Scales of Kinross, MI, Saundra (Chris) Coullard of Pickford, MI, and Judy (John) Peasley of Wyoming; 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter: Lori Scales.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home with Pastor Chad McDonald officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Burial will be at Donaldson Cemetery in the spring.
