She was born August 20, 1920 in San Antonio, Texas to William and Elsie Albrecht Tedd. She moved to Angleton in 1935, graduated from Angleton High School in 1937 and was married on August 30, 1940 to her high school sweetheart, Fred "Spike" Journeay, Jr. Maurine was a faithful member at the First Baptist Church of Angleton since April 25, 1937 and was a servant to her Lord by teaching the four year old Sunday school class for 60 years. She was an avid Astros fan, never missing a game on TV.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Fred "Spike" Journeay, Jr.; her father, William Tedd, mother and step-father, Elsie and Doc Reed; and brother, Bill Tedd.
Maurine leaves behind many loved ones including her son, Chris Journeay; daughter Diane Journeay-Campbell; grandson, Ryan Journeay; great grandchildren, Cason Journeay and Layla Journeay and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 19th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Angleton on Friday, August 20th at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Rodney Bowman to officiate. She will be laid to rest in the Angleton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alec Journeay, Tommy Journeay, James Schneider, Ralph Shuman, Wayne Brown and Ramiro Ozuna. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Class at First Baptist Church.
