Dora was born in Pruzhany, Belarus. She grew up on a beet farm. Dora left Europe from Amsterdam, Holland and arrived at New York, December 9, 1913 on the SS Nordham. Her arrival was sponsored by the Hebrew Immigration Aid Society (HIAS). Her name upon arrival was DWOIRE POMERANCZ. She had two brothers that went to England, one was a violinist.
