Norma Louise Donelson passed away Tuesday morning, July 21, 2009 at the Danville Regional Medical Center.
She was born Norma Louise Tebeau in Shoshoni, Wyoming the daughter of Robert and Marie Tebeau. She lived the first half of her life in the Midwest where she married the late Donald Lester. Together they had six children: Victoria Lester Wilson of Greensboro, NC, Donald H. Lester, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Marie Lester Grey of Johannesburg S. Africa, Douglas Lester of Sacramento, CA, Layton Lester of Richmond, VA, and Valerie Lester Vaughn of Burlington, NC
After the loss of her first husband, Norma Louise moved her young family to Saigon, Vietnam where she met and married the late Dr. Martin Donelson, Jr. She relocated her family to Danville and had a seventh child, John Donelson of McLean, VA. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to being a devoted mother, Norma Lou had a strong Christian faith and was an active member and past deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Danville. She was a member of the Shakespeare Club, The Wednesday Club, the Danville Science Center, as well as a docent at the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Bob Knowles officiating.
