Luddie Alexander was born June 13, 1923 to the union of Frank Taylor and Freddie Davis. She graduated from Henderson High School in 1942. Luddie met Jack, the love of her life, while he was visiting Starville after moving to Colorado with his mother. He would visit every summer. They became friends, then sweethearts and finally married on April 11, 1944. Luddie and Jack eventually moved to Seattle, Washington where Luddie worked for Frederick & Nelson for many years and was their first black cashier. She was a devoted member of First A.M.E. church. She and her mother devoted many hours to the Zodiac Tea functions. After retiring from Frederick & Nelson Luddie was an antique dealer for many years on the weekends, driven there by her husband, Jack.

Luddie passed away on October 1, 2010, exactly two years to the day her beloved husband Jack passed. She was devoted to her husband, mother and the many children she adored throughout her life. She will be greatly missed.
