Betty Lucille Taylor Astin, 86, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2008 at Silverado Assisted Living Center after a long illness.


Mother was born July 19, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Elliot Campbell Taylor and Mary Marian ("Mamie") Walker Taylor. She grew up in Salt Lake City, graduated from East High School and attended the University of Utah. She married John LaVar Astin on June 10, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mother loved playing bridge, visiting her neighbors, golfing, bowling, and watching U of U sports.


Betty is survived by her daughters Sharon Astin, Johnny (Jeff) Pugh, and Laurie (Craig) Goodrich and her sons Ronald Astin and Marc (Cathy) Astin, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way). She was preceded in death by her loving husband John, her parents, brothers and sister, and her daughter-in-law Adele.


Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, East Millcreek, UT. A viewing for friends and family will be held at the Mortuary on Monday, October 13, 2008 from 6:30-8 p.m. and on Tuesday morning prior to the services from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Interment will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
