She was a daughter of Joseph and Amelia "Melia" Taylor who were both born in Ohio according to census records.
In 1900, her yet to be husband, Odie Stroup, was recorded in the Needham Township, Johnson County, Indiana, census record as Otis Stroup, born March 1877, with his then wife, Augusta, born July 1878, and their daughter, Amy, born October 1897.
On February 13, 1904, Willie Taylor married Odie Stroup (indicated as Stramp on the ancestry.com index) in Madison County, Indiana.
In 1910, she was recorded in Lafayette Township, Madison County, Indiana, as Odie's wife, but the surname was misspelled by the census taker as Strup. The record indicated that Odie was 33 and Willie was 24 and they had been married for 6 years. They had two children, both living, who were recorded as a son, Clifford, age 5, and a daughter, Myrtle, age 2. All were born in Indiana, but Willie, who was born in Kentucky. Odie was a farm laborer.
On February 4, 1911, she gave birth to a daughter, G. M. [Gladys] Stroup in Madison County, Indiana. Her name was recorded as Willa in this record. Gladys died in Sugar Creek Township in Shelby County, Indiana, on April 23, 1912.
On June 4, 1913, she gave birth to a son named Odie Stroup in Johnson County, Indiana. His death is recorded as the same day.
On March 23, 1916, she gave birth to a son E. E. [Earl] Stroup in Madison County, Indiana. He died March 28, 1916 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana.
In the 1920 census taken January 5th for Anderson Township, Madison County, Indiana, she and Odie were recorded with the surname Strout. In the record, her name looks more like Nillie than Willie. Her age was recorded as 32 and Odie's as 42. Their son, Clifford, listed as age 14, was a laborer in a factory. Myrtle at age 11 was still at home.

Willie and William were listed in the 1930 census for Center Township, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana in April 1930. They are listed, respectively, as being 45 and 36 with her first marriage being at age 18 and his first marriage at age 30. They had been married to each other for six years according to the census, but it had actually seven years. She was born in Kentucky and he in Indiana. William's occupation was as a meat-packer. Living with them was their son, William Easter Jr, age 6; her daughter from her previous marriage to Odie Stroup, Myrtle Hanshew, age 22, who married at age 14¹ and was listed as married and working in the sausage department at the meat packing facility; and her grandsons (Myrtle's children), Virgil, age 6, and Vern, age 4 years and 3 months. All of them but Willie were born in Indiana.
