Christine Vernill Shelton Taylor departed this world peacefully on June 7th at the Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 5, 1922 in Campbell County, VA to the late Marie Ward Shelton and George W. Shelton and was affectionately called "Cricket" (shortened to "Crick") by her friends and family. She graduated from Campbell County High School and the Stokes Beauty School. She was married to the late West Norman Taylor and made her living in Boston, MA working for many years at Boston City Hospital. In 1970 she moved back to Central Virginia to help take care of her mother and remained until her passing. She was an active member of Cross Roads Baptist Church for many years and raised several of her grandchildren at one point heading a household including four generations of family members. A funeral service will be held 11am, Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Cross Roads Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family is receiving friends from 7-8pm, Friday, June 14, 2013 at Community Funeral Home. Family and friends will assemble at the church.
