Virgie Mae "Granny" Treese passed into her Heavenly Father's arms on Sunday, January 9, 2000. Virgie was born in Reagor Springs, Texas, on August 4, 1909 to James Park and Martha Ellen Meador Taylor. The Taylor's were parents to nine children; Robert, Lloyd, Leotis, Virgie Mae, Jammie, Bernice, Odell, Omega and LaTreese.

Virgie married Ross Johnson Treese on June 16, 1930 in Ellis County. They had three children, Robert Oran b 1936, Berna Jean b 1938 and Janis Ellen b 1940. Al three of them were born exactly two years apart on Feb19th. Virgie resided most of her life in Red Oak, Texas. Granny once quoted Dr. Robert Shuller, "I'd rather do something and fail, than to do nothing and succeed.

Virgie's family meant the world to her. She is survived by her children, Robert Oran (Odessa, deceased) Treese, and, Janis Ellen (Joe) Dickinson, both of Red Oak; grandchildren: Scott (Kim) Jackson, Janita (Mel) Woods, Jeff (Kathy) Dickinson, and Stephanie (Reggie) Baird; great- grandchildren: Bronwyn (Jim) Foster, Heath Jackson, Kelsie Taylor Woods, Candice Jackson, Alyssa Dickinson, Sadie Dickinson, Scotti Jackson, Justin Baird, and Casey Jackson; and great-great grandchild: Cody Foster; three sisters, one brother, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James Parks and Martha Meador Taylor; husband, Ross Johnson Treese; daughter, Berna Jean; two brothers and two sisters.

Virgie came to know the Lord as her personal savior at the age of 12. She continued to serve Him until her last breathe. She was the matriarch of the First United Methodist Church of Red Oak where she chose to serve since 1937. While attending the Methodist church, she was active in the United Methodist Women's group serving in all board capacities, teaching Sunday School (a class is named after her), serving as board member on numerous committees, sewing names for the Lord's Acre quilt, and mentoring ministers and members alike. Virgie was a friend to all who knew her. She would make you laugh when you felt like crying, but most of all, she told you how it was through knowledge and wisdom. You would always come away from a conversation with her, a wiser person. We are grateful for her life which has so graciously been shared with us. She would want you to read Psalm 27.
