Mrs. Susan May "Sue" Harris, 91, of Lebanon, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.
Mrs. Harris was born March 27, 1919, in Lebanon, the daughter of the now late Alfred Beck "Red" and Lula May (Fall) Taylor. Sue was a lifelong resident of Boone County and a 1937 graduate of Dover High School.
She worked in banking in Lebanon for a number of years, retiring in 1985. She held several positions at Citizens Bank and Trust Company in Lebanon, and continued with the bank as it became Mid States Bank and then National City Bank. She studied banking at Indiana University to remain current and proficient in her career.
Sue was married to Garland Milton "Mike" Harris on Jan. 23, 1947, in Boone County. Mr. Harris died on July 26, 1989.
As a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Harris enjoyed her family and their activities. She was a talented seamstress who was known for her abilities in making clothing for her family and friends. She was an Indiana Pacers fan and enjoyed traveling and cruising.
She and Mr. Harris spent a number of winters in Ft. Myers, Fla., where she enjoyed her hobbies of playing euchre, doing crossword puzzles and quilting.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane (Charles) Gareri of Thorntown; one stepdaughter, Bonita L. (John) Mullis of Greencastle; one brother, Charles F. (Jean) Taylor of Crawfordsville; grandchildren, Corey Gareri of Thorntown, Steven (Alicia) Wade of Jamestown, Lisa (Eddie) Cruser of New Palestine, Jason Mullis of Indianapolis, and Chris Harris and Michelle Harris of Florida; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by a son, James M. Harris; a stepdaughter, Carolee Ann Wildman; a son-in-law, Bernard Wildman; and a stepson, Michael Garland Harris.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Pleasant View Cemetery west of Lebanon, with the Rev. John Puckett officiating.
