Gladys M. Taylor Jones, 84, answered the call from her Lord, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 12, 2007. Gladys was born to the late Wiley Jackson and Clara D. Taylor of Boones Mill, Virginia. Gladys was faithful and active member of Slate Hill Baptist Church even during her last years of illnesses. She was a faithful member of Fairland Civic Community Organization where she served as Correspondent Secretary and Chaplin for the well-being of her community. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Willard E. Jones; daughter, Velma Jones Young; daughter-in-law, Annie Mae Jones; and great-grandson, Little Ronnie Robinson; brothers, Hobart (Mae) Taylor, Robert (Louise) Taylor, Howard (Minnie) Taylor, Bermund (Mary) Taylor, Harry Taylor, Otha Taylor, Everette Taylor, James Lee (Frances) Taylor; sisters, Nellie (Willie) Roy, Gertrude (Vernard) Terry; a special aunt, Zenobia Ashville; brothers-in-law, Otha Jones and Harry Jones, and sisters-in-law, Reva Jones and Alma Jones. She is survived by her son, Ernest "Sonny" Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Alda (Michael) Landers (Westchester County, N.Y.), and Michelle R. Jones (Roanoke and Raleigh, N.C.); and son-in-law, Peter Young (Richmond, Va.); grandchildren, Richard Simmons, Ernest Jones, Jr. (Greensboro, N.C.), Kim Y. Gordon (Charlotte, N.C.), Tina (Ronnie) Robinson, Michael (Kristie) Jones, Michael (Erin) Landers II (Christiansburg), Bryan (Tammy) Young (Richmond, Va.); six great-grandchildren and three greatgreatgrandchildren; sister, Blanche Taylor Craig; niece, Katherleen Crockett; brother-in-law and sister-in-law and devoted friends, Charles and Christine Jones; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Grover and Frances Ham and family, Leffy and Marian Gray.
