INDIANAPOLIS - John W. Taylor, 88, Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully with family by his side as he took his glorious journey up to be with the Lord on Monday, February 3, 2014.
John was born to Theodore and Bertha (Freeman) Taylor on September 14, 1925 in Indianapolis, IN. He was a 1943 graduate of Pass Christian High School in MS.
He was an Army Air Force World War II veteran. John married Wanda L. (Bandy) Taylor on November 10, 1949.
John was Vice President for Stark & Wetzel in Indianapolis and Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, IA for forty years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church in Indianapolis and a fifty year member of Siloam Masonic Lodge #609 in Reese Mills. He has lived in Indianapolis for most of his life.
John is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Wanda L. (Bandy) Taylor of Indianapolis; four children, Constance (L. Scott) Blank of Indianapolis, John Timothy (Linda) Taylor of Hartsville, Nicole (Michael) Lunsford of Yorktown and Melissa (Wesley) Tucker of New Mexico; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Bertha Taylor; five siblings and a great-grandson.
Rev. Chris Roberts will officiate the 10:30 a.m. celebration of life service on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary. John will be laid to rest in Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown.
Family and friends may attend calling hours from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 and 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
